James 'Jim' McDonald

June 29, 1945 — March 15, 2013

James Gregg McDonald, 67, a retired truck driver from Shelby, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at his home due to end stages of COPD. Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 19, at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. A reception will follow at the Mint Bar.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Ruby of Shelby; sons, Scott (Cori Zastapouil) McDonald of Billings, Jerry Jackson of Kalispell and Stephen (Tawni) McDonald of Havre; daughters, Wendy Lind of Denver, Melissa Jackson and Julie (Brian) Mallo both of Shelby; siblings, Sheron Doughty, Gert Barta and Genevie Herron; grandchildren, Cameron, Chas, Nikki, Brandon, Christine, Cortney, Colton, Chase, Wyatt, Sereena, Tristin, Kayoda, Thackary and Trista; along with his beloved dog, Spoof.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Kari Lynn and brother, Hilliard McDonald,

Jim was born July 29, 1945 at Lewistown to Wilbur & Lavon (Nordland) McDonald growing up on the family farm in the Buffalo area and then working as a truck driver for many years. He married Ruby Ross August, 6, 1992 at Shelby. He was very proud of each and every one of his children and their accomplishments and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

He was a member of the Rodeo Assoc and the Moose and Eagles Lodges. Jim loved rodeo, especially bull riding, having sat the famous Danny Mortenson on his first bull. He also enjoyed camping, Boy Scout bonfires, truck driving and driving the back roads with Spoof.

Jim enjoyed life to the fullest and would want all of his friends and family to do the same.
