James McGovern

James Kenneth McGovern, age 81, of Cut Bank, died December 31, 2014 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls from a lung infection.

A vigil/rosary service will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 6, and the Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 7, both at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Cut Bank, where he was a long time member.  Jim will interred next to his wife, Betty, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Cut Bank.  Whitted Funeral Chapel, Cut Bank, has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.  Please visit Jim’s online memorial and leave a message of condolence at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com .

Jim was born in Great Falls, MT on April 22, 1933 to James and Ida McGovern.  The family lived in Missoula for a short time before moving to Seville, West of Cut Bank, where his dad farmed.

He attended schools in Cut Bank, graduating from Cut Bank High School in 1951.  In November of that year he married Elizabeth Crumley in Cut Bank.  They had three children; Jim, Alan and Alice and lived in Cut Bank where he worked at the refinery east of town until its closure.  He then drove a school bus until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and sisters and his wife Betty.  He is survived by his children; Jim of Salem, Oregon, Alan and Alice, both of Cut Bank; his grandchildren Jason, Justin, Hillery, Kenneth and Keyshawn; a brother, Tom, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
