Chester

It was a sad day to say “Goodbye” to James Wayne Sedivy. Jim was born September 28th, 1937 to Mildred Sedivy (Alex) and Vince Sedivy in Havre, MT. He went to school in Hingham and graduated from Havre in 1955. He then attended the University of Montana until his dad became ill and he had to come back and help with the farm. His dad Vince passed away in 1957. He farmed until 1979, when he sold the farm. He worked at the Hiline Fertilizer Plant for 2 years, when he went on to get his real estate license and worked for Flynn Realty. Jim lived a very active life enjoying fishing, hunting and flying his airplane for several years. He served on the School Board for 9 years and served on the Town Council for a time also. They moved to Swan Lake to their summer home in 1986 after building a new home when the old one burned in a fire in 1985. They started the Swan Bar in 1990 where he and Joyce worked their shifts side by side. They journeyed south to Mesquite, NV for a few months in the winter for several years also. He loved his wife, kids, grand kids and great grand kids and, of course, his happy hours! They left Swan Lake in 2018 and moved back to the Hiline to the Sweet Grass Lodge in Chester. He passed away in Kalispell at the Logan Health facility surrounded by his family on October 12th, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vince and Mildred, his brother Vincie, grand son Denim Carlson, and step son Doug Effinger.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joyce Sedivy (Cady), his step daughter Donna Forkan (Kevin) of Lincoln, Son Donald Sedivy (Jacqui) of Helena, daughter Dani Carlson (Darryl Hodge) of Creston, 5 grandchildren: Naci Spano (Nick), Shea Forkan (Melissa), Dylan Carlson (Spenser), Donald Brayden Sedivy, Bryson Sedivy, and 2 great grandchildren Skylar and Riggins Forkan, and several cousins and nieces.

He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made throughout his life.
