Jean (Denning) Denney

Eva Jean Denney (née Denning}) died peacefully at the Pondera Medical Center in Conrad on October 2, 2019 at the age of 90.

Jean is survived by children, Sharon Jung of Molalla, Oregon; Ronald Denney (Rhonda) if Augusta, Montana; Sande Carr of Great Falls, Montana; Peggy Taylor (Ralph) of Libby, Montana; Richard Denney (Diane) of Kalispell, Montana. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  Jean's siblings are Kay Denning (Carole) of Whitefish, Montana; LaRee Sutherland (Lewis) of Beaver Creek, Ohio; Rita Denning (Curley) of Columbia Falls, Montana; and Ken Denning (Christine) of Billings, Montana.  Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Denney; daughter, Sandra Gail Denney; and grandsons, Robert (Robbie) Denney and Nathan Denney.

Jean was born on May 13, 1929 in Hoquiam, Washington to Thomas Dean Denning and Alice Edrie Stoker Denning.   She grew up around Idaho Falls and attended schools there. She and her parents moved to Montana in the late 1940’s.  At that that time, Jean was divorced from Edmund Orson Greenwood and had a young child.  She then married Clarence Marvin Berg and had 2 more children after moving to Conrad.  Clarence died in an automobile accident in 1955. She later met Robert Earl Denney and they were married in 1957.  Bob had 4 children, so they blended their families and raised grain crops, cattle and children on Bob’s ranch east of Conrad.

Jean loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and gardening.  When she had to stay indoors, she liked playing card and board games, reading and bowling. She was especially proud of her accomplishment of attaining a Life Master rank in bridge. In her younger days before arthritis stiffened her fingers, Jean was an accomplished pianist.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 416 S. Kansas Street, Conrad, Montana.  Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 – 1:45, preceding the funeral.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Moose Lodge in Conrad in her name. The family would like to thank the staff of the Pondera Medical Center for their care and concern.
