Georgena “Jeanie” Marie Long passed away surrounded by her family, on November 26th, 2022 at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls. She was born November 27th, 1943 in Moscow, Idaho, and attended school in Grantsdale and Anaconda MT. It was in Anaconda that she married her best friend and sweetheart Forest L. Long. They and their children, Debbie, Diane, David, and Danny, made their home in Brady, MT. Jeanie loved being a mother, homemaker, and wife.
She actively served the Brady Community as a Girl and Boy Scout leader, a County Election Official, and Hall Board member. She was a 51-year member of the Brady Methodist Church, serving faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, board member, and treasurer. Mom /Grandma was the family Google search engine years before the world knew of such. She was a voracious reader, crossword solver, and avid gardener. Her evenings were filled with the loyal watching of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Jeanie also enjoyed bowling, having been in various leagues in years past.
Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving. She labored in love preparing and serving the meal for her gathered family. The eve of her passing was spent in this tradition of good food, games, and quality time with her cherished family.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Forest, parents Oliver and Mildred Long, brothers Ralph Brown and Gerald Long, son David, and great-granddaughter Charli Miller.
She is survived by children Debbie (Tom) Miller, Diane Long (Steve Friend), and Danny Long(Theresa). Grandchildren Phillip, Alysha, Tel (Lindsey), Sara (Robert), Preston (Taylor), and Sierra *(Miller); Drew (Kendall), Dain, Joshua, Jacob, and Kyra Mae (Richard) *(Olson-Friend); Ashley (Chad), Dustin (Nikki), Lyra and Davida *(Long), 14 great-grandchildren, with another due in January and sisters Mary Harris and Gloria (Rick) Anderson. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 20, at 11:30 at Brady Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to the Brady Methodist Church or the Brady Community Hall.
