Jim Geiger, 98 passed away June 19, 2021 ( 10 days short of his 99th birthday) at PMC Extended Care in Conrad.
Jim was born on the family farm in Valier June 29, 1922. After high school he worked on the farm until he enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 where he trained to be a B17 bomber pilot. First Lieutenant Geiger and his crew flew 35 bombing missions in 93 days in the European Theatre. He flew five missions in six days during the Battle of the Bulge. He was very proud of his service to his country and became known to his family and friends as the Great LT. He was a good man and not only lived in his country, he fought for it.
He married the the love of his life, Margie Tronson, on April 23, 1944 when he was home on leave. After he was discharged he returned to Valier where they farmed and raised their four children.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margie, grandson Chad Durnell , and bothers Bob, Jack and Dick and sisters Dorothy, Virginia and Maxine as well as his parents, Bert and Ruth Geiger. He is survived by his four children, Randy (Heather)Geiger of Three Forks, Anita (Rick) Moon of Helena, Jeanne (Ron) Moon of Conrad and Lori Durnell of Conrad as well as his baby sister Reita Brockhausen of Billings. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He has touched and blessed many people in his almost 99 years. Dad, we salute you, a member of the “Greatest Generation” with pride, admiration and our undying love as you take your final flight.
