James Steven Molenda, 69, passed peacefully at his home Saturday, October 31, 2020. Jim was married to his college sweetheart, Renae, for 49 years and was a devoted and generous husband, father, and grandfather.
Jim enjoyed trapping, gardening, and beekeeping. He was an avid hunter and exceptional fisherman who took great joy in teaching his sons and grandsons all he knew, AND out fishing them. They were never allowed to show anyone the secret flies he would tie for them!
He could out smart almost everyone in a game of cribbage and played with many fellow railroaders. He followed in his father’s footsteps and retired from the railroad in 2012 after 41 years of service, he worked with Great Northern, Burlington Northern, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe where he made many lifelong friends.
Jim was a proud father and grandfather, of six children and 14 grandchildren, Brian (Nikki) Charlee, Brandeon, Bridger, Terry; Stacy (Greg) Dylan, Mason, Sophia; Amy (Jack) Austin, Jason, Zayne; Todd (Darcy) Chance, Hudson; Aron (Tess) Kamdyn, Graysen; Adam (Marla)
He will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his mother, Maxine; 3 brothers and 4 sisters, Joe (Kim), Pete (Bertha), Matt, Karen (Angel), Denise (Paul), Gena (Bob), and Theresa (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Molenda.
