JoAnn Eileen Stenerson, age 84, of Conrad, Montana, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

JoAnn was born on February 25, 1941, to Ervin and Ethell (Schwend) Ellis in Hardin, Montana. She attended grade school in St. Xavier, Montana, and graduated from Hardin High School with the Class of 1959. Following high school, she pursued her passion for education, earning an Elementary Education degree from Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana. She went on to share her knowledge and love of learning by teaching in Columbus, Troy, and later in Conrad, Montana.

JoAnn was united in marriage to Paul Stenerson on August 23, 1963. The couple moved to Troy, Montana, where they both taught school. Their two children, Colby and Pam, were born at this time. The family moved to Conrad, Montana, in 1973, where they remained ever since.

JoAnn was the beloved founder and teacher of a highly regarded preschool at the Conrad Presbyterian Church, where she nurtured and educated countless young children for many years. Her passion for early childhood education left a lasting impact on the community, shaping the lives of generations of students.

JoAnn loved gardening and took great joy in growing flowers in her yard. She cared for each plant with love, filling her home with bright colors and sweet scents. Her garden was a place of peace and happiness, bringing joy to her and everyone who visited. Beyond her gardening and profession, she cherished time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Donna Delp, brother-in-law George Eichhorn, and sister-in-law Ida Bernhardt. She is survived by her husband, Paul Stenerson of Conrad; two children, son Colby (Christy) Stenerson of Powell, WY, and their children, Tayli, Aubrie, and Trey Stenerson; daughter Pam (Steve) Fanning of Three Forks, MT, and their children, Bryon and Jackson Fanning; one brother, Gerald (Mary Dell) Ellis of Miles City, MT; one sister, Betty Lou Eichhorn of White Sulphur Springs, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

JoAnn is lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm heart and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives she enriched.
