John Darrell Christenot

January 13, 1920 — March 31, 2012

John Darrell Christenot, 92 of Cut bank, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Glacier Care Center due to natural causes. Visitation is Friday, from 1:00 till 7:00 pm at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 7, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cut bank.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila (Paul) Halverson of Cut Bank and son, Michael (Denise) Christenot of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Shawn (Donna), Annette, Eric (Heidi) Lareesa (Jud) and Jeremiah; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Cody, Lexie, Jacoby, Zack, Jessica, Erica, Reed, Ross, Jerrick, Justin, Jaydee, John Owen and Jimmer;

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; sisters, Martha, Mildred and Helen; and brothers, Charles, Harley, Albert, Fred, Kenneth and Rodney.

John was born January 13, 1920 at Weed, MT to George Harley and Ella Fern (Abel) Christenot, and grew up in Dodge and then Sunburst, MT. After finishing the 8th grade he went to work to help put 2 brothers through college. He married Margaret Michaels December 1, 1942 at Cut Bank.

John worked in the shipyards in Portland for a time before moving to Cut Bank, where he worked as welder for the Union Oil Company and Neil Electric rewinding motors.

He enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, tying flies and reloading shells. John competed in small bore shooting, and in 1957 was rated in the top 10 for that year. He was always ready to help anyone in need and enjoyed assisting his brother-in-law on the farm.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir as well as serving as a Deacon and Elder. He also belonged to the Mariners and the Masonic Lodge.
