John Gordon Rice passed Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Glacier Care Center of natural causes.
Gordon was born September 23, 1930 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada to Walden Rice and Mildred Clark. He grew up in Magrath and married Mary Jane Blumel on August 20, 1951. In 1957, Gordon and Mary Jane moved to Montana where they farmed for many years. Gordon resided in the family home in Santa Rita just north of Cut Bank for 58 years where he and Mary Jane raised their family.
Gordon had a passion for farming and loved to be on the tractor or combine. When not in the field, he enjoyed working on equipment in his shop. Gordon also had a love for animals, especially his horses. Many hours were spent with his horses, either riding, roping, or grooming them.
Gordon is survived by his sons, Clarke (Karen) of Billings and Craig (Arline) of Cut Bank; grandsons, Brad, Russ, and J.C.; granddaughters, Maren, Melanie, Marla, and Audra; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane; his parents, Walden and Mildred; and his brothers, Russell, Wesley, and Eugene.
Due to covid-19, services will be delayed until the summer of 2021.
