John Peter Wipf, 80 of Glendale Hutterite Colony, passed away at his home on April 1, 2013, from natural causes. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 4, at noon at the Glendale Hutterite Colony with burial to follow in the Glendale Cemetery.
John was born on May 3, 1932 at Rockport Colony, Magrath, Alberta to Peter and Mary (Hofer) Wipf. He moved to Choteau on July 29, 1948 and then to Glendale Colony on October 4, 1969. He and Annie Jacob Waldner were married July 29, 1953. John was the sheepman, the dairyman and the colony secretary for 24 years.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Annie; children, Annie, Elisabeth, Jacob (Dorothy), Paul (Lydia), and Ben (Mary), all of Glendale, Rev Peter (Christina), Joe (Annie), and Elias (Frieda), all of Twin Hills near Carter, David of Great Falls, and Mary (Sam) of Twin Creek, Standard, Alberta; sister, Mary (George) Waldner of Choteau; brothers, Rev Elias (Bara) of Choteau, David (Elisabeth) and Paul (Rebecca) of Belt, and Joe of Oklahoma; as well as 21 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, John; grandson, Jason; sister, Rebecca Kleinsasser; and brothers, Rev Peter, Jacob, and Sam.
John enjoyed his family and friends, enjoyed doing favors for them, and he loved to sing.
