Joy “Pinky” Phillips, 75 of Browning, passed away Friday, October 18, 2012, at the Blackfeet Care Center. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday October 23 at the Old Eagle Shields Center, burial followed in the St. Michael’s Cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Tim Phillips of Browning; along with numerous adopted grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leon & Gary Weiss
She was born February 6, 1937 at Tacoma, WA, to Lee & Vonnie Weiss. She grew up in several areas of the Northwest, since her father worked in the ship yards of Oregon & Washington. Joy married Noel Robert Phillips in 1959 at Polson; they later divorced.
She came to Browning in 1968 and attended Blackfeet Community College for a time. Joy had worked as librarian, teachers’ assistant and secretary over the years.
She enjoyed crocheting and antiques.
