Joyce Marie Wilson, 91, a former business woman and longtime Shelby resident, passed away on Holy Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Marias Care Center in Shelby.
Joyce was born January 26, 1923 to Lena Schroer Williams and Fred E. Williams in Great Falls. She attended elementary school in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School in 1941. She attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota for two years and went on to graduate from Kinman Business College in Spokane, Washington with a Masters of Accounting degree.
She married William F. Wilson in July of 1946. Joyce was an accountant for Inland Automobile Association for 15 years in Spokane where she and Bill first resided. After the death of her father, she and Bill moved back to Shelby where Joyce owned and managed Williams Court.
Joyce and Bill were avid bowlers and bowled in the Shelby bowling leagues for many years. She and Bill also enjoyed waterskiing, which they enjoyed while vacationing at the family cabin on Bitterroot Lake. Joyce and her family were active members of St. Williams Catholic Church and participated in many of the parish activities, including the parish women’s service group.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, her little brother Rene and her cousin, Annaleen Zeeck, who was raised in the Williams family. She is survived by many friends and relatives.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Marias Care Center for the wonderful care that they provided to Joyce in her last days.
A vigil service will be 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23 at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am on Thursday, April 24 at St. William Catholic Church in Shelby. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
