Joyce Wilson, a devoted wife, mother, and passionate animal lover, peacefully passed away on March 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and kindness. Born in Washington DC and raised by her loving aunt Loretta and uncle Nick Galardi, Joyce's deep connection with animals was evident from a young age.
After graduating from Victorville High School, Joyce pursued her interests in both chemistry and art at college in San Bernardino. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Willie Wilson, whom she married on October 20, 1973. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and a mutual adoration for animals.
Joyce's passion for animals extended beyond her family, as she dedicated herself to nurturing and caring for them in various capacities. She was a dedicated 4H leader in Sunburst, where she inspired countless young minds to appreciate and respect all living creatures. One of Joyce's greatest joys in life was raising her beloved horses, sheep, and her faithful companion, Chewy, who brought her endless happiness and companionship throughout the years. Her gentle touch and unwavering love created a sanctuary for all the animals fortunate enough to be in her care. Joyce's love for animals was only surpassed by her love for her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Willie, her daughter Barbara Welker, sons Joshua Wilson and Shiloh Wilson, daughter Chelsea Warburton, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an Animal Rescue Organization or Toole County 4H Club, honoring Joyce's life.
