Judy Ann Sawyer

August 19, 1955 — March 1, 2023

Conrad

Judy was born in Conrad to Lois and Edward Jury August 19, 1955. She grew up in the town of Conrad, MT, with her brother Frank Jury. After graduating high school, she attended 2 years of college in Dillion, MT. She married Richard Sawyer March 27th 1976, and moved to Brady, MT. They had two children Warren and Brandon Sawyer.

Judy passed away suddenly on March 1st while visiting her son, Warren in Louisiana. She was awaiting to go on a cruise that she highly anticipated for a year. Her brother Frank, and his wife Rita, were able to see her before her passing. Frank’s daughter, Nicole was able to make it down to Louisiana for support as well.

Judy had been retired from Pondera County Sherriff’s office with 31 loyal years as a dispatcher. While there, she is remembered for her yearly Christmas poems and cookies. People eagerly awaited each year to hear what kind of crazy poem was in store for the Christmas season.

Another Christmas tradition was the love of baking candies and cookies to give to her friends and neighbors. The cookie delivery service was always a highlight of the holidays for the Brady/Conrad community.

Judy was also 4-H horse leader for many years. Not only did she enjoy time with all the horses, but devoted time and effort to the young people she mentored.

One of the highlights of her life was the time at Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with people from all around the state. She was responsible for bookkeeping as well as organizing, and assisting, events. You knew Judy was responsible for something if it had lots of smiles and laughter attached to it. She will truly miss her brothers and sisters at Eastern Star.

One of her great passions was her love of horses. She loved riding since she was a young girl. Taking horse to the mountains and riding trails gave her a sense of peace that couldn’t be replicated. Seeing the forest and mountains was something she would always look forward to year after year, and it was a place that truly made her heart happy.

Her latest passion was chasing after her grandkids. Brandon and Shanda Sawyer had three children, Draylen, Taylee, and Kaleb. Judy tried to go to all their school functions and sporting events. From basketball, volleyball, and tennis- she always treasured those grandkids because of all the stories we heard about their games. She even baked goodies, not only for her grandkids, but for the entire teams to enjoy.

Judy is survived by her husband Richard of 47 years. Two sons, Warren and Brandon. Brandon’s crew is his wife is Shanda, and their three children: Draylen, Taylee, and Kaleb. She had a brother, Frank Jury who is married to Rita of Wisconsin. Her niece Nicole and her nephew Christopher Jury. Her brother-in-law Dave, married to Cheryl, and their children, Tammy and Jolene, as well as Clay married to Lisa of Washington, Craig of Conrad, and Cleave with Becky in Conrad.

The family wishes to thank all friends and relatives as well as the community for their support, cards, and prayers in this trying time. Thank you again.

A memorial will be held June 24th due to out of state friends and family wish to attend in better traveling conditions.
