Judy Walters

December 31, 1944 — November 5, 2023

Cut Bank

Judy Walters passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2023. Judy Mae Whitmore Walters was born

on December 31, 1944 in Shelby, as an identical twin to Chester and Lorene Whitmore. Her

identical twin sister, Joann, was born second, and Judy never let her forget it. She spent her childhood

growing up with her 3 sisters on a farm outside of Conrad. After graduating from Conrad High School in

1963, she worked in Conrad. She then joined one of her friends in Cody, Wyoming for work where she

waited tables and enjoyed sharing new adventures with one of her good friends. She returned home to

Conrad after a short stay in Cody. Upon her return, she met her future husband Fred Walters in 1964.

They were married on July 7, 1966 in Conrad, and celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage.

Judy spent most of her life raising her 2 children and helping her husband with their oilfield business,

Montana Oilwell Cementers. She answered the company phone and helped in any way she could, any

time of the day or night. Judy and Fred loved to travel in their early years together. They were lucky to

have traveled to almost every continent. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their

cabin on Echo Lake. Many great memories were made at the cabin.

Judy was full of life and loved to laugh. She was a prankster and loved to pull pranks on her family if she

had the opportunity. Loved game shows and always kept an immaculate house and yard. One could

often find her in her yard tending to her beautiful flowers which is a love she shared with her twin

sister. Judy loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending family functions especially

around the holidays.

She is survived by her two children, Bryan (Mary) Walters of Meridian, Idaho and Kelly (Marvin) Fassett

of Cut Bank, Montana; her 4 grandchildren, Danika Walters, Stephen Walters, Ty Fassett, and Jared

Walters; her 3 sisters, Darlene (Benny) Beaudry of Lewistown, Bonnie Delphy of Great Falls and her twin

Sister, Joann Stokes of Conrad; her many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded by death by her husband, Fred Walters; her parents, Chester and Lorene Whitmore;

and her cherished dog, Missy.

Judy will deeply be missed by her family and friends. Thankfully she left us with many special memories.

We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and ancillary staff in Cut Bank, Shelby, and Conrad

who cared for Judy.

“May the choirs of angels come to greet you.

May they speed you to paradise.

May the Lord enfold you in his mercy,

May you find eternal life.”
