Kelly Kay (Corey) Tafelmeyer passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Northern Rockies Medical Center from complications of COPD.
Her funeral service will be on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Kelly was born on Nov. 14, 1955, in Scobey to Lyle and Cleo Corey. She was raised in Scobey and graduated from Scobey High School in 1973. She then followed her sister out to Cut Bank looking for work and met the love of her life, Jon. They were married on Dec. 20, 1975. They were blessed on their first wedding anniversary with the birth of their daughter Jonna. She was joined by a brother, Cory, three years later.
Kelly worked for a number of years at Glacier County Hospital as well as the clinic. She then went to work in the office at Buttrey’s. Following that she moved on to run the R-Place restaurant until a hot oil burn slowed her down. Kelly then went back to work at Albertsons until she decided she wanted to spend more time seeing her husband and family so she went to work at the Cut Bank Golf and Country Club. She was praised by the Men’s Senior League for the wonderful soup and sandwiches she would serve them every Thursday for lunch.
Kelly suffered a stroke in October of 2012 that slowed her down again. She was always trying different hobbies such as ceramics, stained glass and needlepoint. She taught Sunday school, was a member of the church council, the Glaciereens, Women of the Moose and her favorite group of ladies in pinochle club. She was a great cook with her family always wanting her biscuits and gravy.
She is survived by her mother Cleo of Scobey; her husband of 41 years, Jon; daughter Jonna of Cut Bank; son Cory (Sunny) of Cut Bank; sister Karen Hayes Payne of Hamilton; brothers Mike of Glasgow, John of Seeley Lake and David of Scobey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Lyle when she was eight.
