Kenneth Jacob Berkram, also known as “Peewee” passed away September 30, 2022. Kenneth was born in Cut Bank, Montana on February 24, 1934 to Ole and Regina (Losing) Berkram. Kenneth was the youngest of four children. His siblings were Irene Harris, Vera Nichols, and Elmer Berkram. He grew up on a farm 24 miles northeast of Cut Bank. During the winter the family lived in Sweetgrass. He attended school in Sweetgrass and Oilmont, graduating from Oilmont High School in 1952. Kenneth farmed from 1952 to 1956. In 1956, he began his military service in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. After his service in the Army, Kenneth returned to his family farm. He farmed and ranched in partnership with his brother Elmer in the north country until he retired in 2000.
On October 23, 1960, Kenneth married Avis Ronning of Bainville Montana. He and Avis had two children, Ole Kenneth and Jennifer Ann. They were avid supporters of their children’s and grandchildren’s activities. They enjoyed multiple sports, especially basketball. They attended games near and far whenever they were able. Kenneth and Avis lived on the farm until November 2021.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kenneth is survived by his wife Avis of Cut Bank, his son Ole of Dillon, Montana, and his daughter Jennifer (Erich) Hansen of Aiken, South Carolina. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Sadie (Richard) Blake, Amanda (Justin) Hedgecock, Jackson Berkram, Renata Hansen, and Magdalina Hansen as well as six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. Condolences can be made online at asperfh.com.
