HAZEL LAVONNE (SISSON) UNGAR, 91, of Cut Bank, passed on August 18, 2020 at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th, 2020 at Mountain View Baptist Church. Graveside services following at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Viewing will be from 11:30am to 12:30pm prior to service at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Cut Bank.

LaVonne was born September 15, 1928, in Baker, Montana to Burton and Lucille (Sanford) Sisson.  At age 6, her family moved to Cut Bank, Montana.  The family lived east of town by Bells and Masingails and then moved into town and lived on the northwest side of town.  In her teenage years, the family moved to the Lake Five/Coram, Montana area and from there to Kalispell, Montana.  She had one older brother, Duane Sisson (deceased) of San Diego, California and has one younger sister, Linda Smith of Boise, Idaho.

On March 30, 1946, she married Nicholas Joseph Ungar in Kalispell, Montana and they made their home in Cut Bank.  They were married for 68 years before Nick passed away in July of 2014.  Together they raised 5 daughters; Christine, Betty (deceased), Charlotte, Nikki and Patti (deceased).  They enjoyed square dancing; spending time with friends and family having dinner, playing cards and board games; camping and fishing.  LaVonne was a member of The Royal Neighbors and The Moose Club.  Outside of raising her family, she worked on and off cleaning rooms at The Plains Hotel, The Glacier Motor Inn and The Parkway Motel.  In the late 1970’s, she partnered with Ann Thompson in the ownership and operation of a gift shop that was located, at the time, between the Hardware Hank Store and the Mode O’Day clothing store on East Main Street in the Neeral Building.

Survivors include her daughters, Christine (Dennis) Howell of Cut Bank, Charlotte (Robert) Hamilton of Sheridan, WY, and Nikki Ratliff of Tulsa, OK; son-in-law, Buck Shelden of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Linda (Lloyd) Smith of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Brian Howell, David Howell, Erin Camp, Brittany Taylor, Sara Gomendi; and Cody Shelden; great grandchildren, Landon Howell; Taylor Howell, Mary Howell, Nick Howell, Austin Howell, Caden Howell, Andraya Howell, Bryant Camp, Tavion Taylor, and Blake Taylor; grea- great granddaughter, Adrianna Howell; and many nieces and nephews.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Lucille Sisson; husband, Nick; daughters, Betty and Patti; and brother, Duane Sisson.
