Leroy Meyer

Leroy Meyer, 89, of Shelby, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Marias Care Center.

Leroy was born on February 14, 1928, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to Herman and Mabel Meyer.  Leroy joined the armed services in Wisconsin, and was discharged on May 6th, 1947.   He was discharged with a World War II Victory Medal.   He moved to Montana in the late forties   He married JoAnn Matlock February 14, 1952, in Dillon, Mt.  From this union came four children Margo, Gregory, Timothy, and Patrick.  Throughout Leroy’s life, he worked at various occupations.  He was a rig hand, truck driver, city employee, and all around cowboy.  He had a tremendous love for horses, camping, hunting and the great outdoors.

Leroy married Myrtle Agnes Lunda Miller on February 14th, 1997, in Shelby, MT. There were no children from this union.  Leroy and Myrtle lived in Sunburst, Mt until 2014, when they moved to Shelby, MT.  He was lifelong member of the American Legion and the VFW Club.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn, his son Timothy.   He is survived by his wife Myrtle Meyer, sons Gregory, Patrick and daughter Margo, and Sidney, Alton, Harvey, Kenny, Shirley Miller. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 11, at 11:00AM at SweetGrass Legion Hall.

A reception will follow burial at the hall.
