Linda M. Mempa, 65, a medical transcriptionist from Shelby, MT, passed away Wednesday at the Marias Care Center due to a lengthy illness. Services are pending and will be announced later, burial ashes will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Nampa, ID. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.
Linda was born June 5, 1946 at Nampa, ID to Ralph & Lenita Geddes. She moved to Martin City, MT where she attended grade school until the 6th grade, when the family then moved to Polson, MT where she graduated from high school in 1964.
She then attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA. Linda worked as a respiratory therapist for a time and later as a medical transcriptionist in Idaho, and most recently in Lewistown, MT. In 2008 she retired and moved to Shelby.
Linda was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling, taking drives, crocheting, knitting, cooking, doing any kind of crafts, sitting on her porch and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorina R. Smith of Shelby; special friend Al Henifin of Arizona; brother, Larry Smith of Polson; grandchildren, Richard (Janessa) Martinez, and Levi Smith both of Shelby and Jonathon McKessick of Kalispell, MT; one great-grandchild, Elena, and one more on the way.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Shannon Mempa.
