Lois W. Dunk

August 22, 1918 — January 14, 2017

Our dear mother, Lois Wahneta (Carver) Dunk went home to be with the Lord

on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the age of 98. Lois was a resident at the Glacier

Care Center in Cut Bank, Montana at the time of her death.

Lois was born on August 22, 1918 in Monango, North Dakota to Myron Gill

Carver and Gladys Pearl (Ellsbury) Carver. Lois was the eldest of six children. She

Graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1936 .After graduating from high

school, she worked as a switchboard operator in Fort Benton until 1941. lt was

while visiting her parents in California she met a friend of the family, Dallas Dunk.

Five days after meeting Dallas, she married him on May 13, 1941. They were

married for fifty two years .To this marriage were born three sons; Richard(Dick)

and Artha (Barrows) Dunk of Sunburst, Montana, David and Judy (Larson) Dunk of

Snyder, Texas, and Carson and Marilyn (Everet) Dunk of Cut Bank, Montana.

During her Iife, Lois and Dallas lived in California, Alberta (Canada), and finally

settled in Sunburst, Montana to finish raising their three sons. lt was during this

time in Sunburst where Lois became active as a member of the Methodist Church,

the Iocal chapter of the Eastern Star, Lion's Club, and the Sunburst Knit Wit Club.

During her life, Lois worked as a school custodian in the Sunburst Schools, owned

and managed the Town and Country Market in Sunburst with her husband, Dallas.

She and Dallas then moved to Shelby, Montana where Lois worked in the Toole

County Courthouse Treasurer's Office, and they managed the Cross Roads and

Marias Manor Housing Development in Shelby until their retirement in 1986. Lois

eventually moved to the Marias Heritage Center in Shelby for seven years, and

then moved to the Glacier Care Center in Cut Bank, Montana until the time of her

death.

Lois enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, playing games, doing various types of

handwork, and most of all spending time with her family. Lois enjoyed spending

much of her time sewing, knitting, crocheting and counter cross stitch projects.

Her family and many of her friends were the recipients of many of her hand

made items .There was lots of time and love in every stitch.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas; parents, Myron and Gladys

Carver; sisters, Dela Rae, Marilyn, Shirley; and brother, Loren.

Lois is survived by her three sons, Richard (Artha) Dunk and their children,

grandson, Shannon (Annie) Dunk and great grandchildren, Braydon and Hayley

Dunk of Sunburst, Montana, grandson, Loren (Rochelle) Dunk of Power, Montana

and their children, great grand daughter, Jessica (Ryan) Patterson and great-great

grandchildren Kyra, Ayden, and Liam Patterson of Scappoose, Oregon, great

grandson, Aaron (Michelle) Frederick and great-great granddaughter, Ava of

Houston, Texas, great- granddaughter, Gretchen (Kallan) Kropp and great-great

grandchild Sylvia of Stevensville, Montana, and great grandsons Isaiah and

Dominik Dunk of Power, Montana; Son, David (Judy) Dunk of Snyder, Texas and

their children, granddaughter, Stacy (Steve) Parker, great-granddaughter Lori

(Michael) Cast and great-great grandchildren Kennedy, Michael Ill, Beckett Cast,

great grandson, Matthew Parker and great-great grandson, Hudson all of

Midland, Texas, granddaughter, Jodie (Kyle) Sorrells, great- grandchildren, Kyla

and Tanner Sorrells of Petersburg, Texas; Son, Carson(Marilyn )Dunk of CutBank,

Montana and their children granddaughter, Dawn Dunk of Great Falls, Montana,

grandsons, Kristopher and Manson of Kalispell, Montana. Other survivors are

Lois's brother, Charles Carver of Galt, California and her sister-in-law, Velma

(Dunk) Peters of Salt Lake City, Utah. Lois is also survived by numerous nieces and

nephews.

A celebration of Lois's Iife will take place on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the

Sunburst United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow

immediately after the celebration in the church. Graveside services will take

place at a Iater date.
