Lucille (Ellingson) Petersen

August 25, 1928 — September 30, 2016

Lucille Ellingson Petersen passed away September 30, 2016 at her family home surrounded by her children.

She was born in Conrad on August 25, 1928. She was the youngest of 4 children born to Oliver (2x4) and Olga Lee Ellingson.

Lucille attended Brady Public School and graduated in 1947. She went to Morehead College for one semester, then returned to teach at the Knees School. She married Roland Petersen on October 8, 1949 and to this union 5 children were born: Gordon, Glenn, Susan (Tom) Dorey, Sandy (Dave) Riegel and Sharon (Pat) Harrison.

Lucille was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was active in the senior citizens center, involved in numerous civic clubs, and was an avid bowler. She enjoyed working at quilting and collecting things.

Every chance she got she would take a drive to various locations often driving her older brother, Vern, for any near or far lutefisk supper. Traveling to see her grandchildren and family was very high on her list of activities. Her only regret was not getting a stamp on her passport.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rol; son, Gordon; and brothers, Orvest, Robert and Vernon.

She is survived by 4 of her children and 6 grandchildren; Mary and Dena Riegel, James and Tom Dorey and Devon and Dannie Harrison; and brother, George Ellingson of Conrad.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brady Community Hall on Thursday, October 6 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Brady Community Hall or a charity of your choice.
