Samuel Lynn Stewart was born September 12,1935 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. Lynn was the eldest son of Samuel Lloyd and Margaret Stewart. He was followed by six siblings within the first eighteen years of his life. Lynn was a beautiful blond curly headed baby and would develop a work ethic that would serve him well all his life. He was agile and athletic and he loved playing sports. In 1950 Lynn moved with his family to Ferdig, Montana. His parents acquired a half section of land that also had what would be referred to as an ”old shack of a house” with two bedrooms, coal oil lanterns, no running water nor indoor plumbing. The work of forging a new life in the United States began. Following the death of his father in May of 1954 the daunting task of caring for an entire family fell on Lynn’s shoulders. He was eighteen years old. It has been said that Lynn was not allowed to choose his career, it was chosen for him. He is honored for filling that roll. Lynn married V. Belle Richards in 1959. They had 4 children; Lance, Samuel, Jean and Sandra. They worked hard on the original farm and expanded with every opportunity they had until they had built a large successful farming operation. Lynn was still working on the farm until the day he died. He has 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Many friends and relatives came and went on the farm over the years and Lynn loved putting anyone and everyone to work. Lynn loved attending auctions and had an enthusiasm for making acquisitions. He could not pass up a good deal whether he needed it or not. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved having them visit the farm. Viewing will be June 3, 2023 at the Asper Funeral Home from 7-9 pm.
