Marian L Dyrdahl, longtime Shelby resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 16, 2018. Marian was born May 28, 1945, in Great Falls, MT, the youngest of 4 daughters of John L Collins and Harriet May (Ewan) Collins. The family moved to Townsend where John ran a gas station until his death in 1958. After the loss of her father, the family moved to Great Falls. In 1963 she met and married her first husband, Ray Firman, and they had daughter, Laura, and son, Allen, and moved to Shelby in 1973. Divorcing in 1978, Marian and her children remained in Shelby where she worked as a cook at the Homesteader and then the Capitol Café. On July 16, 1981, Marian married John Robert (Bob) Dyrdahl and they had daughter, Andrea.
Marian was an avid sewer and quilt maker, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered as a tireless worker in the care of her family, excellent cook, always willing to add a plate to the table for visitors and friends.
She is survived by daughter, Laura (Hugh) Herget of Coutts, Alberta, Canada, son, Allen Firman of Portland, Oregon, and daughter Andrea Dyrdahl of Shelby, Montana; grandchildren, Eric (Nicole) Seidler of Billings, Erin Seidler of Shelby, and Janessa (Richard) Martinez; sisters, Glenda (Jim) Anderson of Stevensville, Susan (Jack) Selby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Judy (George) Knee of Bowling Green, Kentucky as well as 12 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Bob Dyrdahl.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 22, at 1:00pm at Whitted Funeral Chapel.
