Marion Leigh Woldstad, 89, a lifetime rancher, passed Monday, September 14, 2020.
Marion was born August 3, 1931 to Sigvert and Cora (Sundby) Woldstad in Valier. He was raised on the family ranch/farm north of Valier. Marion attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Valier High School in 1950. He enlisted into the US Army and following his honorable discharge in 1953, attended various agricultural education classes. Marion rode with the state brand inspector and purchased the ranch north of East Glacier Park in 1959. He married Joni Sears on November 28, 1967 and together they lived and ranched in East Glacier Park until the time of his death.
Marion loved working with horses and taking care of his cows.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joni Woldstad; children, Trent (Sandy) Woldstad of Harlowton and Kim (Doug Jergenson) Woldstad of Fairfield; sister, Clarice Aakre of Conrad; grandchildren, Garret and Colter Woldstad both of Harlowton; and numerous nieces and nephews, who had a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carol, Melvin, Selmar; sisters, Stella Risdahl, Alice Burford, and Martha Stordahl.
Memorials can be made to the Valier Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 21, at 2:00 PM at the Valier Lutheran Church. Visitation at the church will be prior to service starting at noon.
