Mark Evan Wood, 71, passed on September 30, 2021.
Mark was born at home in Loma, MT on March 3,1950 to Margaret Terry and Joseph Wood. His childhood years were spent in Montana and Alaska. Being young and determined, he thought he knew as much as the teachers would in high school, so he left that behind and married Nancy Dunks. From that unity three children were born; Mark, Joe, and Amy.
Mark entered the Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged due to a heart condition. Mark and Nancy later divorced and then met his current wife, Linda Barrett. Together, they eventually landed in Willow Creek, CA where Mark worked as a carpenter when his health allowed. He enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles, and anyone that was as free-spirited and liked the normal life as much as he did. As Mark’s health declined in his later years, he and Linda returned to Shelby, MT, where he remained until his death.
Survivors include wife, Linda Barrett; siblings, Lila Roberts (Leo Derbyshire), Mary Ann Nielsen, Jerry Wood, and Debi Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Penny Wood, Betty Phifer, Lori Postma, and Darlene McClearen; children, Mark Swope, Joe Swope, and Amy Groom; and stepdaughter, Amber Newman.
He is preceded in death by father, Joseph Wood; mother, Margaret Phifer; siblings, Bob Wood, Terry Wood, and Ron Phifer; sisters-in-law, Cleta Wood, Nancy Wood, Kay Seymour, and Lula Brown.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the TLC given to Mark over the years by all the caregivers and staff at Marias Care Center, with special thanks to Jaimie Nutter. You made his time there enjoyable with your caring attitude, sense of humor, and ability to give back what he was dishing out.
