Martin “Marty” Earl Wood, 51, of Joplin passed away April 3, 2019 in Kalispell from complications of pancreatic cancer.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 18, at 2:00 pm at the GT Center(former school gym) in Joplin.

Marty was born August 28, 1967 in Chester to Thomas Sr. and Fern (LaValley) Wood. He was raised and attended school in Joplin. Marty graduated Salutatorian from JI High School in 1985. He went on to attend Montana State University.

After leaving college, Marty became a partner on the family farm. He married Tina Fraser in 1988 in Inverness.  In 1989 he started and operated a trucking business until 1998.  In 1993 Marty and Tina purchased the insurance agency in Joplin.

Marty’s hobbies included skiing, drumming, Griz football, and following his niece’s and nephew’s activities.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Wood; siblings, Karen (Dick McIntyre) Skonord of Kalispell, Nancy (Duane) Alley of Farmington, MN, Faye (Dave) Dewing of Justin, TX, Tom (Ronell) Wood Jr. of Joplin, and Larry Wood of Kalispell; nieces and nephews, Debbie, Daren, Darwin, Danette, Jarad, Deanne, Paige, Adam, Michael, Rachel, Emily, Lydia, Payne, Porter, Ecko, Ashur, Ian, and Augie; and 13 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to North Star Schools, CJI Schools, Joplin Community Commercial Club, Joplin Memorial Park, or any non- profit charity in the Joplin area.
