Maxine Elizabeth (Harris) Hale

June 13, 1922 — November 7, 2015

Maxine Elizabeth Hale, age 93, was born June 13, 1922 and went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2015.

A memorial service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, November 14 at Prairie Peace Lutheran Church in Cut Bank.  A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall following the service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitted Funeral Chapel.  Please visit Maxine’s online memorial and leave a message of condolence for the family at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com .

Maxine met and married Missouri Hale in Great Falls.  They soon moved to Shelby, where they welcomed their daughter, Myrna.  They then moved to Cut Bank, where they welcomed their second daughter, Sandy.

In the mid 1940’s, Maxine and Mo opened the M&M Fountainette on Main Street in Cut Bank before moving it to the west end of town.  They would continue to be business owners, in many different ventures, for the next 60 years.  But most people know her from Maxine’s, a ladies dress shop that she ran for 40 years.

Maxine had a strong fashion sense and was always dressed to perfection, even if she was only going out to weed the flower beds.

Maxine was very active in the community she called home for 70 years including church groups, Moose, Elks, Pink Ladies and numerous bowling leagues.  Many summer mornings, she could be found at the golf course, ready to tee off.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold “Mo” Hale and her son-in-law, Bill Carl.

Maxine was the family matriarch to 5 generations and is survived by her daughters, Myrna (Allen) Kutt, and Sandy Carl; grandsons Scott (Beth) Kutt and Bart Kutt; granddaughters Belinda (Jerry) Osborn and Brenda (Doug) Wahl; great-grandsons Wade (Janna) VandenBos and Willy (Dayna) VandenBos; great-granddaughters Cassie (Chad) Johnson, Tamara (Mike) Murphy, Brittny Hoover, Lauren, Kim and Kat Kutt; and her great great-granddaughters KayDe and Carllee VandenBos.
