Maxine R. Ward, 95, passed October 30,2020. She was born October 3, 1925 in Kansas. Her family moved to Montana in 1931 where she attended country school in the 6th grade, Chester school in the 7th grade, and 8th grade in Hot Springs. She also attended Chester high school. During her school years in Chester, she met Eloise Thielman and they became the best of friends. They were best friends for 84 years.

Maxine married Aden Ward on April 18, 1942 in Great Falls, Montana. They were married for 64 years before Aden passed away on August 1, 2006. After marrying Aden, they purchased the family farm from his dad in 1944.

The Wards purchased a second farm in Saskatchewan in the early 1960’s. After which, they commuted to Canada regularly for 25 years. In 1989 they sold their farm in Canada. That same year, they purchased another farm south of Rudyard.

Maxine was a 4H leader, teaching sewing and cooking. She decorated all kinds of cakes for weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays for many years. She also knitted and crocheted many afghans for her family and friends. She is known for knitting dish rags for anyone who wanted them.

Maxine sewed numerous clothes for her grandchildren including cheerleading outfits, formal attire, and wedding dresses. Her passions included her flower garden, raspberries, taking care of her yard, and attending her church. She helped out with numerous events at the church.

Aden and Maxine enjoyed their many trips to Hawaii as well as other states in the U.S. Maxine was always ready to travel and to spend quality time with her family and friends. Maxine and Aden built their home in Chester when their daughter Sharon started high school. They lived in Chester in the winters and on the farm in the summers. Maxine is survived by her son Ron Ward and Daughter Sharon Seidlitz. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and three great great granddaughters.
