Michael M Hofer, 67, died in the early morning of January 17, 2014 at his residence at Rimrock Colony at Sunburst. He had been diagnosed with liver cancer on October 31, 2013. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 19, at 11:30 am at the colony.
Mike was born to Michael and Rebecca (Waldner) Hofer at Sunnysite Colony at Warner, Alberta on May 18, 1946. He moved to Hillside Colony at Sweet Grass in 1951 where he received his education. In 1963 he moved to the Rimrock Colony where he has lived since. He was the colony cobbler for the past 32 years and helped in the blacksmith shop for the past 28 years. He was also the duck boss for 20 years.
He and Katie Wurz were married at the Rimrock Colony. They had no children and were devoted to each other.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Katie; his mother, Rebecca Hofer of Eagle Creek Colony; three brothers, John (Rebecca) of Rimrock Colony, David (Rachel) and Rev Elias (Anna), both of Eagle Creek Colony; and three sisters, Rebecca (Jake) Hofer, Mary (Will) Wurz, Susie (Will) Hofer, all of Eagle Creek Colony; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Michael, in 1991.
He will be greatly missed by his wife and all of his friends.
