Michael H. LaSorte, age 67, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Benefis Peace Hospice of Montana in Great Falls.

He was born on February 1 st , 1948 in Cut Bank, Montana to Joe and Alice LaSorte.  He graduated from Shelby High School in 1966 and married Bonnie [Dodson] Holum.  Mike served his country in the U.S. Army as a young man, and worked for Burlington-Northern Railroad for over 30 years until he retired. Mike spent the last 26 years of his life with his wife Barbara [Olsen] LaSorte, and together they enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching football (he was a lifelong Packers fan!) and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Mike was well known around Shelby as a friendly face who could strike up a conversation with anyone, and his nicknames for those he loved were cherished. He was a wonderful storyteller, and always had a story or a song to make us laugh and sometimes cry.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Ann LaSorte, his son Ryan Michael LaSorte, and his brother David LaSorte.

He will be honored and remembered by his beloved wife Barbara, four children, and eight grandchildren: Rock (Jeanne) LaSorte and son Rhyan; Lillian (Paul) Dannels and children Charlie, Eli and Ashlyn; Amy (Josh) Whitten and children Olivia and Wesley; and Trish (Jeremiah) Carpenter and children Sarah and Amelia; his siblings Joe (Cindy) LaSorte, Steve LaSorte, and Anna (Patrick) Carney; and many nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle Mikey.”
