Palma Jean Warner (Warner) Cooper

August 4, 1924 — February 15, 2014

Palma Jean Warner Cooper passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Great Falls. She was 89 years old.

Services will be held Thursday, February 20 at St. Margaret's Parish in Cut Bank, at 11 a.m.   Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jean was born in Cut Bank, on August 4, 1924 to Alfred and Mary Warner. She spent her childhood in Cut Bank where she attended grade school and high school. She attended the University of Montana where she was a Theta Rho Sister and studied Social Services. After graduation she worked with Social Services in both Cut Bank and Browning.

On January 9, 1947 she married Charles Cooper ("Chuck") and they farmed in the Cut Bank area for the next 40 years. She and Chuck spent many a winter in Arizona up until Chuck passed in 1989. Jean moved to Whitefish where she spent the next 15 years and enjoyed an active life. After leaving Whitefish she moved to Great Falls until the past year.

Jean was active in 4-H and was a leader for several years. She taught Sunday school at the Presbyterian Church and spent many a summer transporting swim team members to meets across the state. She enjoyed playing bridge where she ultimately earned her Life Masters. She was an avid sports fan and a lifelong Grizzly fan and loved to venture to Washington Grizzly stadium to cheer on her team.

Jean is survived by her children Mary Chaffin of Great Falls, Jane (Ben) McCaughey of Surprise, Ariz., and Dave (Paula) Cooper of Cut Bank; and her eight grandchildren: Meghen (Oyvind) Gustavsen, Sara Chaffin, Kelsey Cooper, Rachel Chaffin, Callie Cooper, Sharlee (Carlos) Lipp, Chaz Cooper and Benjamin McCaughey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Alene Cooper and several nieces and nephews.  Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck and her brother, Jack Warner.

Mom, Grandma will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
