Phyllis Rae Rauscher, 68, ascended to join her heavenly family on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Graveside service will be held Friday, August 5, at 10:00am at Hillside Cemetery in Conrad. Following the service join the family at the First Presbyterian Church for coffee and cookies
Phyllis was born on a bright and sunny morning on July 13, 1954 to Patricia (Jochems) and Ray Jones. She attended school in Conrad. Phyllis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school while she was in high school. After graduating from Conrad High School, she worked at The Keg Family Restaurant and Robo Car Wash. Phyllis met Bernard “Bernie” Rauscher while he was in the US Navy. They married on June 15, 1976 in Norfolk, VA where Bernie was stationed. Together they moved to Geato, Italy and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Phyllis came back to Montana to deliver their first daughter, Andrea Lynn, in Great Falls. Their second daughter, Brittney Leigh, was born in Hawaii. The family moved to San Diego, CA and finally Tacoma, WA.
Phyllis was her girl’s Girl Scout Leader, camp counsellor while living in Hawaii, and followed the girls faithfully in any sport or event they were involved and received numerous awards for her volunteer work.
Phyllis and Bernie divorced, and Phyllis and the girls moved to Conrad. Phyllis and Bernie remained friends and he would come to Montana to visit. Phyllis started working at the Horizon Lodge and remained there for over 24 years. The residents became good friends.
Survivors include daughters, Andrea Rauscher of Great Falls and Brittney Rauscher of Billings; grandchildren, Chloe Coffman of San Marcos, TX, Rose Haskins and Teagan Hale both of Havre; sister, Gayle Jones of Manhattan, KS; aunts, Marion Hancock and Ruth Hanley.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Peggy; ex-husband, Bernie Rauscher; and grandparents, Emily & Walter Jones and Garrett & Nellie Jochems.
Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society, Conrad Community Cancer Fund, or American Diabetes Association.
