One of the last real cowboys, Richard Kenaloo Bundy of Cut Bank passed away the evening of December 27th at the Glacier Care Center just two days shy of his 90th birthday. Dick, a World War II veteran, died of natural causes.
Richard was born December 29, 1922 in Dutton, MT to P.K .and Mayme (Lathrop) Bundy. He was the youngest of four children. Dick was raised on the family ranch in Ethridge, MT. Later he joined the Army and fought in WWII.
Dad was one of the hardest working, most generous, loving and gentle men that the good Lord ever put on this earth.
He married the love of his life LeeAnn Stone on March 15, 1959. They went on to have three children. Dick and LeeAnn ranched their whole lives. He was checking cows and helping out at brandings well into his 80s.
Richard is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years LeeAnn; son Richard Kevin (Cheri) Bundy; daughters Keli (Danny) Murphy and Stacy Layne (Hyland Layne) and stepson Dr. Joseph B. Stone III (Deanna); grandchildren Court Nelson, Cassie (Jeff) Billman, Shelly Bundy, Devin Bundy, Morgan Bundy, Kyle (Jana) Murphy, Jace Murphy, Baylee Layne, Kaycee Layne, Hylee Layne, Jesse Stone and Jerry Stone; great-grandchildren River Billman, Mercedes Murphy and Lorelei Jeter.
He was preceded in death by his parents P.K. and Mayme Bundy; sisters Carol McMurtry and Bunny Johnsrud; and brother Bill Bundy.
An Irish wake to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
