Robert "Bob" Kraft was a fifty year, second generation farmer of Toole and Glacier County. He passed away in the Reflections Memory Care wing, at the Grandview of Benifis in Great Falls on January 31, 2016. Bob was born on the original homestead located southeast of Shelby, on June 6, 1925, to Jacob and Anna (Gillig) Kraft. He attended a rural one-room schoolhouse and Shelby High School.
Bob was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart for combat service in the Philippines, and he later spent a year in the occupation of Japan.
In February of 1949, Bob married Minnie Faye Scott. Together they raised five children: Robert Allen (Patsy) Kraft of Moab, Utah; Marlene (Loren) Johnson of Helena; Ronald Kraft of Helena; Richard (Andrea) Kraft of Cut Bank; Lynn (Greg) Warwick of Eureka. In addition to his children, he is survived by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Bob and Faye later divorced and, in March of 1986, Bob married Marie Harris. Bob was predeceased by his parents, brothers (Leo and Donald), and sisters (Alma Roemmich, Edna Stearns, and Louise (Andy) Gillies).
Bob was a 55-year member of the Cut Bank Masonic Lodge #82 and a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He loved to play pitch and enjoyed a spirited political debate.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank, with Pastor Bear officiating, reception to follow. Interment will follow the reception, with Military Honors at the Valley View Cemetery, in Shelby, Montana. Memorial donations are suggested to Sweet Grass American Legion Post #73, 125 Central Ave., Sweet Grass, MT 59484.
