Roberta Lee Larabee, 82, of Ellensburg, Washington, passed away on December 14,
2019 of natural causes. She lived in Kent, WA the majority of her life, recently
moving to an Independent Living apartment in Ellensburg, WA in October 2018.
Roberta was born in Shelby on January 7, 1937 to Leonard Laurence Bantin
and Martha Florence Bantin. She graduated from Shelby High School and was active in
the Drill Team. She went on to earn a business degree from Kinman Business University
in Spokane, WA.
Roberta was married to Charles F. Larabee on July 26, 1958; they were married 61 years.
Charles passed on June 27, 2019 from natural causes (Alzheimer’s) at their daughter’s
home in Houston, TX.
Roberta, in her childbearing years, was active in the Lutheran Church, and was a fantastic
homemaker. As her children reached the age of self-care, Roberta worked in both the
health industry (Ames Nutrition store in Renton, WA) and the Washington State liquor
stores (Renton and Kent, WA). She enjoyed dancing and taking the kids to the pool and
lakes during the summer months. She enjoyed watching softball, baseball, and football as
a fan of the WSU Cougars, Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks. Roberta was an avid
dog lover, over the years she had many loyal companions.
Survivors include her three children, Terri Roberts of Mt. Vernon, WA, Linda Larabee of
Houston, TX, and Michael Larabee of Berwyn Heights, MD; three
grandchildren, Mitch Roberts, Michaela Larabee, and John Larabee; and two great-
grandchildren, Tyson Roberts and Addison Roberts.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 2:00 PM at Whitted Funeral Chapel.
