Roy E Robinson, 91, formerly of Shelby and later Hot Springs, passed away on January 13, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Billings. Visitation is Sunday, January 19, from 1:00 until 7:00 with family receiving friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 20, at St Luke’s Lutheran Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Roy was born in Coutts, Alberta on November 11, 1922 to Frank and Grace (Ball) Robinson. He was raised in the Sweet Grass and Sunburst area and attended country schools. He served in the US Navy from May 1944 to February 1946. Roy lived most of his life in Shelby where he was owner of Roy’s Radiator Shop. He later moved to Hot Springs where he resided for the last 28 years. He and Minnie Larson were married December 15, 1940 and he later married Elizabeth Howendobler on February 5, 1982. Roy was a gas compressor mechanic for Montana Dakota Power (which later became Montana Power) for 36 years retiring in 1984.
Roy enjoyed attending auctions and garage sales and repairing non-operational tractors, cars and small power equipment. He was a member of the Oil Chemical Atomic Workers Local 294 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He is survived by his children, Don and Grace (Robinson) Johnson, Bill and Mary (Robinson) Combs, Rod Robinson, John and Shirleen (Robinson) Curtis, and Ken and Christy Robinson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy is predeceased by children Timothy Robinson and Roy Frank Robinson, six brothers and five sisters.
