Ruby Ruth (Foss) McAlpine

Ruby Ruth McAlpine, 90, of Sweet Grass, passed on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, of natural causes at Glacier Care Center in Cut Bank.

A family memorial service will be held at later date with interment in the Sweet Grass Cemetery.

Ruby Ruth Foss was born in Eureka, MT on December 10, 1930 to Joseph and Ethel Foss. Ruby moved to Sunburst at the age of 14 to live with her sister and family. She attended North Toole County High School.

Ruby was married to Thomas Peter McAlpine, Jr. on November 19, 1949, and resided on the McAlpine family farm west of Sweet Grass. They were married 57 years until the time of Tommy’s death on November 27, 2006.

Ruby was a homemaker, raised five children, for a short time was a Glacier County EMT, a substitute teacher for Sunburst Public Schools for many years, raised sheep, helped on the family farm, and was an excellent marksman.

Survivors include her five children; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law; along with many nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; her husband; and one great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to charity of donor’s choice.

The family of Ruby McAlpine wishes to thank all those who were essential part of her comfort and care over the last five years.
