Russell Lowell Taylor, born March 25, 1956, passed away on December 27, 2020, of cancer. Russell was surrounded by his loving family while under hospice care.
He was born in Shelby, Montana to Elsie and Robert Taylor. He joined big sister, Roberta; brother, Joe; and sister, Mary. Russ grew up in Shelby. After graduating, he joined the army and served for four years in Lawton, OK and Germany. Russ had two children, daughter, Bonnie and son, Raymond. He worked hard his whole life doing construction and driving truck. While working as a property caretaker in Great Falls, Russ was honored by the Cascade County Sheriff’s department with a Lifesaving Commendation after he selflessly helped to rescue his neighbors from a burning house in 2018.
Russ was a fan of NASCAR and Griz football. He loved working, living on the river, and sharing fun with family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Elsie and Ray Robbins; and granddaughter, McKenna Eide. He is survived by his sisters, Roberta (Lindsay) Klingler and Mary (Michael) Brown; brother, Joe; children, Bonnie (Jeff) Hunter and Raymond (Jennifer) Taylor; grandchildren, Christian (Kristina), Brianna, Kyra, Damon, Jaxon, Alex, Kayla, Kameon, Kyra; great-grandchildren, Sammuel, Madison, and Paisley; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside with military honors will be held Saturday, July 10, at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Cemetery.
Memorials may be donated to the Humane Society in your county to help rescue at risk animals or to a charity of your choice.
