Sandra Kay Dean, 38, a wife, mother and Head Start Volunteer from Shelby, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at a Great Falls Hospital due to cancer. Visitation is Friday from 1:00 until 8:00 PM at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are 3:00 PM, Saturday at the Shelby High School Auditorium with burial to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Mike Dean, and sons, Tanner and Noah, all of Shelby; mother, Cathy Eklund of Shelby; brothers, Bob Eklund of Missoula and Hans Ekland of Shelby; and sisters, Juanita Fetterhoff of Augusta, GA, Angel Eklund of Cut Bank and Helen Eklund of Shelby.
Sandy was born February 8, 1974 at Shelby and grew up in the Flathead Valley where she graduated from Flathead High School in 1992.
She married Mike Dean September 20, 1996 at Shelby. Sandy was a wonderful mother and wife and cared deeply for her family. When she was not busy with household chores, she volunteered at the Shelby Head Start.
Sandy was an active member of the New Life Community Church. Besides spending time with her family she enjoyed reading, walking, collecting Teddy Bears and attending sporting events with her husband Mike.
