Cut Bank

 

 Sandra “Sandy” (Holm) Hayes, 88, of Cut Bank, Montana, passed away peacefully on

Friday February 21, 2025, rejoining and rejoicing with her husband Jim in Heaven. 

Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church on Thursday February 27, 2025 at

5 P.M, with a vigil service to follow at 7 P.M. The funeral service will also be at St.

Margaret Catholic Church in Cut Bank on February 28, 2025, at 10 AM, followed by

burial at Crown Hill Cemetery and a reception at the church social center.

 Sandy was born in Conrad, Montana on April 9th, 1936 to Everett and Margaret Holm.

She graduated from Valier High School and went on to receive a teaching certificate

from Western Montana College. After college, Sandy taught for 2 years and later

became a bookkeeper for several businesses in Cut Bank. 

 Sandy married James Hayes on December 27, 1957, and they were married for 47

wonderful years. Together they had 6 children, 10 grandchildren, and 13

great-grandchildren. 

 Sandy is survived by her sister, Judy Hazen; children, David (LeAnne) Hayes, Suzanne

(Gary) Racine, Raymond Hayes, Marj (Les) DeZort, Julie Hayes, and Molly Hayes;

Grandchildren, Ben (Tracy) Grimm, Michelle (Ryan) Gossett, Ryan (Staci) Grimm,

Melanie Racine, Adam (Kellie) DeZort, Cassie (Jason) Righter, Neil (Shanaira) DeZort,

Theresa Hayes, Heather Hayes, and Chris (Anna) Hayes; numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Deacon Jim Hayes; mother and

Father, Margaret and Everett Holm; brother, Terry & sister-in-law Carolyn Holm; sister, Rita

& brother-in-law, Al Roland; brother-in-law, Herb Hazen; and daughter-in-law, Edythe

(Long) Hayes. 

 Sandy was a long-time member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where she served in

many capacities including Religious Ed Director, music ministry, PCCW member, and

lay minister. She loved to bake, generously providing treats to everyone she knew. Her

greatest joys were spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. 

 Special thanks to the amazing crew at Northern Pines Care Center who treated Mom

with compassion and dignity until her passing.

 Sandy’s cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by all who knew her.
