Former Conrad, Montana resident and Conrad High School graduate, Ruth Long passed away November 10, 2016 at Agrace Hospice Care in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Ruth was born March 4 th , 1937 in Odessa, Texas to Betty McElroy and James Teal. She married Roy R. Long on September 23 rd , 1957 in Libby Montana. They had five children. Sara later became a resident of Richland and Mattawa, WA and moved to Janesville, WI in 2011.
Ruth is survived by her five children and their spouses, June (Paul) Nelson, Richard (Pat) Long, Ron (Ann) Long, Rose (Irvin) Yeager and Evelyn (David) Severance. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Shannon (Brad) Little, Melinda (Joe) Henthorn-Valdez, Lisa (Jordan) Fuller, Rick (Gail) Long, Bridgette (Patrick) Dotson, Jared (Leslie) Long, Bryce (Holly) Nelson, Irvin Lane (Amber) Yeager, Renee (Nicholas) Howard, Trevor Nelson, Ryan (Tesla) Long, Heidi Yeager, Anna (Andrew) Sevy, Wyle Yeager and Keely Yeager, 22 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren, a nephew Henry Stone and 2 nieces Nan Huber and Carol VanGorp.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ruth was involved in the Relief Society. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary #7655 where she held many positions. Along with her husband Roy they spent five years as Hunter Safety instructors.
Ruth traveled often to visit her family. She enjoyed reading, crafts, especially crocheting, cultivating and tending to her flowers and plants, walking on the beach and camping with her family. She surrounded herself with animals especially cats and dogs and missed her little dog PJ when it became necessary to move into assisted living. Ruth passed that love of animals on to her children who passed it on to theirs.
Ruth was preceded by her parents,;husband, Roy; sister, Connie Stone; brother, Dick Hungerford; niece, Connie (Cookie) Stai; and a grandson, Randy Long. Ruth will be deeply missed by all.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 19 th , 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Conrad. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Conrad.
