Selmar Conrad Woldstad, 91, a rancher from the Valier area died December 24, 2015 at the Glacier Care Center due to natural causes.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Valier Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel (Murray) Woldstad; sons, Robert (Mary) Woldstad, John (Karen) Woldstad, Neal (Janice) Woldstad, all of Valier; Marvin Woldstad of Missoula, and daughter Montana (Scott) Hansen of Kila, MT. He is also survived by his brothers, Melvin Woldstad of Drummond, Marion (Joni) Woldstad of East Glacier, and a sister Clarice (Albert) Aakre, of Conrad. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, three sisters, and a grandson (David Woldstad).
Selmar was born November 8, 1924 at Shelby to Sigvart and Cora (Sundby) Woldstad who ranched in the Valier area. He was a machine gunner, marksman, and sharpshooter in the U.S. Army, serving during WWII from May 18, 1943 through January 31, 1945. Selmar and Ethel married in 1948 at Sandpoint, Idaho. They ranched from 1945 to the present.
