Shirley Ann Boley, 82, peacefully passed at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
Shirley was born on February 12, 1939, in Glasgow, at Deaconess Hospital to Blanche M. (Maristuen) & Elmer J. Hagen. Shirley was raised with her brother, Jerry Hagen, and sister, Sharon (Hagen) Woods. Shirley and her female classmates often enjoyed farm sleepovers in the barn.
Shirley was an accomplished musician throughout her life. As a young girl she would travel to local communities and put on concerts. In the fifth grade, Shirley was playing in the senior band. By the time Shirley was in college she was putting on concerts with the Pacific Lutheran University Orchestra.
Shirley attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. She received two bachelor’s degrees and a 5th year degree. While at PLU Shirley also spent her time as a sorority sister.
Shirley was a social worker and then went on to teach elementary music in Havre. She also taught private guitar and piano lessons. After her career as a music teacher, Shirley was a caretaker for many years. She cared for her brother, mother, and aunts. She loved to laugh and socialize with her friends.
Shirley married Bob Boley and they were later divorced. During the marriage they adopted an infant son, R. Casey Boley.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Sharon (Bill) Woods of Rudyard; son, Casey (Angie) Boley of Inverness; and grandsons, Rian Gulick of Billings and Lucas Boley of Inverness.
A small service will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 2 PM, at Asper/Rockman Funeral Home in Chester. Burial will take place at later date at Highland Cemetery in Glasgow. Shirley will be buried with her parents.
