Terry L. Moench

March 11, 1948 — February 18, 2018

Terry Moench, 69 of Shelby passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Born on March 11, 1948 to Fred and June Moench in Vancouver, Washington. Terry was the second oldest of 8 kids. Raised in Devon MT with his siblings in a small house, Terry formed a strong bond with his brothers and one sister. He attended high school at Shelby where he graduated with the class of 1966.

Shortly after graduation, Terry enlisted into the United States Marines and soon found himself in Vietnam. Terry served 18 months from 1967 to 1969 in Vietnam during arguably the most dangerous time of the operation, the Tet offensive as a radio telephone operator and wireman. Soon after his duty was over, Terry moved back to Montana and started his family with his wife Pat.  Terry worked with a number of his brothers and sister in a family ran construction business building grain bins around the area farms.  Eventually, Terry and his youngest Brother Scott formed Moench Construction where they worked together for 37 years. During the winter, Terry would drive a propane truck for AmeriGas/ Petrolane for the better part of 25 years. He was a proud member of the V.F.W. and member of the local walleye sportsman club.

Terry was an avid fisherman and loved when his family would gather for the annual hunting camp at Tiber Reservoir opening weekend of hunting. Terry was always quick for a day trip to the lake with his friends and family no matter the weather. He was a loving father of his four children and always believed in them and pushed them to strive for more. Nothing made him smile more then being a grandfather and seeing his grandchildren during the holidays.

He loved to laugh and joke with all his friends and family and was always quick to salute a fellow marine where and whenever he would run into one. Big in stature and a little intimidating to some, Terry was caring giant with a smile that could light up a room. A proud Brother, loving Dad, a high fiving Grandpa and the best friend to so many. He will be missed by so many and still loved by everyone.  SEMPER FI Dad. We will miss you forever.
