Thomas Wayne Gordon, 61, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and lifelong cowboy, rode into the sunset on September 23rd, 2024.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, at Whitted Funeral Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm. Graveside will be held Saturday, October 5, at 10:00 am on the family land, 551 Potter Road. A reception at the Cut Bank Moose Lodge will follow the service.

Tom was born on July 5th, 1963 to Douglas and Jean (Potter) Gordon in Cut Bank, Montana. His lifelong dream was to be a cowboy. Riding horses, roping and rodeo were some of his biggest passions. He also studied mechanics at Montana State University-Northern in Havre, Montana, then decided to try Broadcasting School in Billings, Montana. It was there that he met his first wife LaShon Dionne, and they had three children; Deen, Taylor and Lane. They lived in Missoula, Montana for a number of years, where he worked many jobs to provide for his family.

They moved to his family ranch on Potter Road near Kevin, Montana in '97. While both went on to remarry, they remained in touch.

He met and married Sara Wigen in the fall of 2003, where they lived and operated the ranch together for the remainder of his life. In addition to his ranching duties, he also served a 6 year term as Toole County Commissioner.

Tom's spirit was as vast and vibrant as the Montana sky, reflecting his deep love for the land and the cowboy way of life. He loved everything about living the cowboy life, he especially looked forward to the annual branding party with all his family and friends.

As a father, he instilled values of hard work, integrity, and adventure in his children. Whether it was teaching them how to ride horses, repair machinery, or share stories around the campfire, his influence on their lives was profound and everlasting.

Tom's journey was not just defined by his passions but also by the connections he forged along the way. He was a man of deep loyalty and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh with friends and neighbors. From the moments spent working in the corral to the quiet evenings on the ranch, Tom found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His infectious laughter, unwavering enthusiasm and his love for telling jokes and stories, left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He took pride in passing on his knowledge to younger generations, ensuring that the traditions of ranching and cowboy culture would continue to thrive. It is clear that Tom rode through this world with a heart full of love, a spirit of adventure, and an unyielding commitment to family and friends. He will be remembered not only for his cowboy spirit but also for the legacy of love and joy he leaves behind.

He is preceded in death by his parents Doug and Jean Gordon.

He is survived by his wife Sara Gordon, sister Cherie Wigen (Chris), sons Deen (Melissa) and Lane (Caitlin), daughter Taylor (Josh Silvesan), as well as many friends and extended family who cherished him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Christian Worship Hour and Marias Valley Youth Rodeo.
