Thora Holmesland Edwards, age 89, of Cut Bank, MT, passed away on February 23, 2015, of natural causes. She was buried on February 26 next to her husband of 58 years, Marvin Edwards, at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Cut Bank. A memorial service will be held in Shelby at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall on March 7 th , at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon reception to follow at the Comfort Inn. Memorial arrangements will be handled by the Whitted Funeral Chapel.
Thora was born in Berkley, California, on July 31, 1925, to Samuel and Florence (Skeie) Holmesland. On December 16, 1941, she married Marvin Edwards. Together, they built the family farm north of Cut Bank, farming from 1953 – 1989. Outside of farming, Thora was a prolific painter in all mediums; her family and friends all have reminders of her talent. She also took joy in being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Thora is survived by four children: Karen House, Shelby; Kim (Ann) Edwards, Hot Springs, Montana; Nancy (Mike) Dusterhoff, and Susan Trebas all of Great Falls. She is also survived by her sister: Kaye (Bruce) Peterson of Simms. She leaves 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Thora was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her parents Sam & Flossie, and one sister, Marcia.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Marcia Atherton of Cut Bank and the nurses at Peace Hospice in Great Falls.
