Thomas “Tom” Merrill Stevens, 78, of Raymond, Alberta, Canada passed away suddenly on August 8th, 2020.
Born in Houston, Texas on May 27, 1942. Tom graduated from Spring Branch High School in Houston. Tom served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Buenos Aries, Argentina Mission. He continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University. During that time, Tom met Norma Bridge, whom he would marry and together they had 8 children.
Tom was well known for his work ethic and his passion for adventure, which lead him to travel all over the world. From Europe, to Central America, and as far away central Russia, Tom was never intimidated by a language or cultural barrier. He was ever the entrepreneur throughout his years. Tom build homes, imported antiques from Europe, and eventually began a successful business exporting and importing cars internationally for over 40 years.
Tom was also actively involved as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a scout master, deacon teacher, and a devoted home teacher. His charitable contributions included sending emergency equipment such as crutches, wheelchairs, and ambulances to impoverished areas of Mexico. As well as sending bikes, toys, and books.
Tom is survived by his children, Tom (Lenora), Amy, Allen (Rebecca), James (Shelley), Helen, Rebecca (Frank), Michael (Jordynn), his siblings Rebecca (Chuck), Judy (Carl), Sam (Jae), his grandchildren, Benjamin, Connor, Alex, Ethan, Bentley, Aiden, Elizabeth, Maddox, Xander, Raffaele, Remi, Acie and Rue.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday August 22nd at 1401 9th St. NW, Great Falls, Montana, 59404. Burial will follow the funeral at Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond, Alberta, Canada where he will be laid to rest next to his daughter Michelle.
Arrangements are being handled by Asper Funeral Home in Shelby, Montana.
