Victor Luedtke

d. January 2, 2017

Vic Luedtke, 99, a lifetime resident of Cut Bank died in his sleep at the Glacier Care Center in Cut Bank on Monday January 2, 2017.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, at 10:30 am at Prairie Peace Lutheran Church.

Victor Emil Luedtke was born November 27, 1917 at the homestead northeast of Cut Bank to Emil and Viola Luedtke. It was not Glacier County yet but was Teton County.  The old homestead is still standing.  He was the oldest child born to the couple, followed by Ruth in 1921 and Don in 1937. He attended school in Cut Bank and graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1936.

Vic married Marilyn Jones of Shelby on June 21, 1942 in Shelby. Together they raised their 2 sons, Ron and Tim.  Vic and Marilyn were married for over 40 years and they spent their entire married life farming the homestead of his parents and his Uncle Fred and Aunt Hilda Bliesener. Marilyn passed away in March of 1983. Vic and his sons continued farming and in 1984 Vic married Jean Straight Platt Wold at St Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank.  Vic became step-dad and step-grandpa to many step-children and step-grandchildren. Jean retired after many years as a retail clerk and Vic turned the family ranch and farm over to his sons, although he kept active in the workings of the farm/ranch with his sons.  After their retirement Vic and Jean spent the last 32 years enjoying traveling, sightseeing and many Saturday nights dancing.

Vic was baptized and confirmed a Lutheran before there was even a church building in Cut Bank. He was a faithful believer in our Savior Jesus Christ.  Vic will be remembered by his smile, his helping hand and honesty, especially by his neighbors and other farmers.  All his friends and family will forever remember all the stories that he loved to share.  He led a very interesting and full life and shared many of his experiences as a young man.

Vic is survived by his wife, Jean, of Cut Bank; son, Tim Luedtke; daughter-in-law, Marlene Luedtke; granddaughters, Kate Morrisett (Eric) and Casey White (Jason) all of Cut Bank; grandsons Jason Luedtke (Lisa) of Idaho and Sam Luedtke of Big Sky, Montana; step-children Bob Platt (Janet) of North Carolina; Diane Proefrock (Steve) of Cut Bank; Bruce Wold (Kelli) of Seeley Lake; Tim Wold (Kim) of Kalispell; Rich (Val); Don Wold (Jan); Dave (Debbie); all of Washington; seven great grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren and 28 step-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Hatch of Cut Bank; and brother, Don (Mary) Luedtke of Great Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marilyn; his son, Ron; his daughter-in-law, Marcia and his great granddaughter, Karsynn Morrisett.
